This morning when I went to the bus, I came by this sign. 10 seconds after I passed it I stop suddenly and had to figure out what I just read. I turned around and was relieved: I misread. But I wanted to know exactly what lead me to misreading the sign, since right now I was looking at the back.
I turned around and… saw that I read correctly: “prepaid funerals”.
I could not believe it. I guess I had the mobil phone contracts in mind. Having this, I started to wonder about the concept and the law stated around that topic in germay. You need to know, in Germany the mobil provider are allowed to cancel your prepaid contract/number if you don’t use it for over a year or so. Adopting this, it would mean that you need to use your prepaid funeral very soon.

Fun aside. I saw quiet often commercials about insurance which covers only the costs of your funeral. It is advertised with the idea similar to: you don’t want to bedevil you relatives while they are already so much occupied by grieving.
It is done. I moved my stuff and arrived at my new place till 26th. After sorting out – did not have too much time to unpack – I had my first meal: dinner with traditional Bauernfrühstück (without pickles

In the series of restaurant recommendations I will give you a very small and cosy restaurant tip for Melbourne. “Bluechillies” is very small and a little outside the inner city of Melbourne. But don’t worry. The tram is carrying you there in just 5-10 minutes. It is certainly worth going there. The Style is Asian food but I think it is very westernized. So have a look there.
When being in this area shopping, store hopping, wine cellars (alcohol stores) and bars are welcoming you. Watch out: It is a perfect area to make pictures…
When I went to Manly a few months before, I was introduced to the Chocolaterie “Max Brenner“. They are serving different types of Hot Chocolate and everything else you can get from chocolate. The Chocolate fudge/brownies are a must!!!
In Sydney you can find them a couple of time but they are not always easy to find as the one at the Many Warft. The one in the inner city is in the basement of a Department store. That is not the best location since there is no nice view. Still, better there than not at all. But You really need to search downstairs or better ask someone inside. They will tell you.

I really got the hang if Thai food. “In the Mood for Thai” is a very good restaurant of it’s kind. It is not too cheap compared to others but you should really try this if you are in Sydney!
But, I know that there are Thai restaurants cheaper with the same quality. But they do not have the nice ambient like that one.

Hat sie nicht wirklich alles getan für uns? Hat sich nicht gestritten um jeden Cent, den man uns wegnehmen wollte? Es hat gewirkt. Sie hat es geschafft! Keine Einsparungen mehr als absolut notwendig. Nein, nichts mehr zu holen. Die 650 Millionen EUR sind alles was sie in den nächsten 4 Jahren an unseren Finanzi abdrücken muss.
Aber so schlimm ist das ja nicht! Viele Zahlungen waren ja eh Systemwidrig. Hm… viele? Na, zumindest eine war es und dann dichten wir uns eben die Widrigkeit einer anderen hinzu. Und überhaupt die bekommen ja alle eh zu viel Geld! Was braucht man denn schon als 4-köpfige Familie schon für Moneten im Monat? Hm…

Habe gerade meinen Assistenten nicht dabei. Aber mein Exel Sheet hat gesagt, dass das viel zu viel sei, was wir da zahlen. Und Exel lügt nie, Comuter lügen nie…

Kleine Randnotiz: Die Steuererleichterung für das Hotelgewerbe, welche den Staat etwa 1.000 Millionen EUR im Jahr kostet, bleibt unangetastet. Da kann man mal sehen, was das gefasel von “Auf den Kindern von heute baut die Zukunft von morgen auf!” und “Die undertsützung der Familien ist wichtig!” und “Bildung ist das A und O der Gesellschafft!” wirklich wert ist. Nein! Unsere Zukunft liegt im Hotelgewerbe (mit Hotelfachangestellten die nicht nach Stundenlohn sondern nach Bettenanzahl bezahlt werden).

Nebenbei anmerken möchte ich meine Überraschung, dass der Journalist seine Fragen stellt und sich bedankt. Ist das heute so üblich? Gibt es denn kaum noch Journalisten die die Gabe haben wirklich zu zuhören was ihnen gesagt wird und entsprechend zu reagieren? Schaut Euch auf jeden Fall mal dieses keine Video-Interview an.

Hm… I just stumbles upon a feature in Adobe Acrobat Reader, which I don’t like too much because it is very slow. I apparently ignored the fact that it can read PDF documents – or better speak them. So for fun and without any hope that I could actually understand too much I tried it. And for the record: It works pretty well. I will try it again with German documents later but I am pretty amazed and might use this feature more often when I am tired of reading.
